Nutritional Therapists

Nutritional therapy developed as an individualised approach to supporting health through nutrition and lifestyle. Practitioners consider diet, digestion, nutrient status, environmental exposure and the connections between body systems.

The approach is patient-centred and recognises biochemical individuality, prevention, nutritional biochemistry and the broader context of health rather than only the absence of disease.

Dietitians

Dietitians apply the science of nutrition to feeding and education for individuals and groups in health and disease. In Europe, dietetic practice includes clinical, administrative and public health or community roles.

Dietitians commonly work in the NHS and are regulated as a statutory health profession in the UK.

Nutrition Advisors

Nutrition Advisors, Nutrition Counsellors or Dietary Coaches support people to improve health through appropriate diet and lifestyle advice.

The level and intensity of training is generally shorter than that required for Nutritional Therapy practice.
